Exploration Architecture Corporation will serve as Principal Investigator and Program Manager for the WEX Foundation’s K-12 education project for development of space exploration STEM curricula for special needs students and historically under represented student population groups.
The WEX Foundation (WEXF), located in San Antonio, TX, is a not-for-profit 501(c) education organization that supports secondary education for historically underrepresented and underserved student populations. The WEXF mission is to promote, encourage and support the convergence of technology and education as applied to new visions for human space exploration and its long term implications for the educational development of the nations next generation of scientist, engineers, mathematicians and technologist, beginning with K-12 education. Its focus is to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education for K-12 curriculum development; improving STEM teaching and student comprehension in school districts and areas were students have been traditionally underserved and underrepresented in institutions of higher education to prepare and encourage low-income, first generation college bound students.
To service the project goals WEXF assembled a uniquely qualified team of local San Antonio educational organizations and education-related companies for project partnership. The content for the project’s space exploration curricula will be developed by a team consisting of Northwest Alta Vista College Texas Institute for Education Robotics (TIER), PCI Educational Publishing, Numedeon, Inc, Exploration Architecture Corporation (XArc), and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Office of P-20 Initiatives, plus a number of subject matter experts in the fields of astronomy and aerospace sciences and consulting experts in Aerospace and Science Education/Instructional Design.
